Activities
Whilst enjoying the Day Care facilities our clients can take part in a wide variety of stimulating social activities in order to keep their minds and bodies ‘active’.
The activities provided can include cooking sessions, crafts, painting, flower arranging, reminiscence therapy and exercises. The exercise classes held at least twice monthly always prove very popular.
We have a select group of entertainers that come to the Centre to put on a varied range of entertainment for our clients and visitors. These include individuals singers doing ‘sing a longs’, key board and piano players, groups or small choirs and duo’s. All provide an excellent choice of musical talents, which are thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Clients are picked up and taken home in one of our
mini buses which have access for wheelchair and
disabled clients.
Christmas and individual birthdays are celebrated with both staff and clients having a good time.

The Care Centre is proud of the fact that we have held the GOLD standard of the Healthy Eating Scheme which is an award given to organisations who attain a certain standard of promoting healthy eating and awareness. The Newport Meals on Wheels service is co-ordinated, cooked and distributed from within the Centre.

As well as the Day Care service the Centre is used in the evenings and at weekends by local community groups including Newport Townswomen’s Guild, Female 77 and Newport Bridge Club.

As the Centre has a large lounge and dining area it can be hired for private functions like birthday and anniversary celebrations. The income generated from this use is put to the day-to-day running costs of the Centre.
The Annabelle Day Nursery provides day care for babies, toddlers and pre school children. The attractively decorated baby room has a separate changing area, a sleeping area and a vast array of toys. The toddler room has been specifically designed to provide a fully equipped environment to encourage interesting learning through play.
On site there is also an X-Ray and physiotherapy department. These serve the local doctors’ surgeries and save patients having to travel further a field to Telford or Stafford for treatment.
Also based at the Care Centre are the local school nurses, health visitors and district nurses. This can enable good client/patient continuity for those requiring continued healthcare. The local G.P’s can also see clients at the Centre instead of having to visit them at home.
Rooms are utilised within the Centre for National Health services such as Diabetic screening and child health consultations. We also house the Alzheimer’s Support Group, The Women’s Royal Voluntary Service Helpline and Relate Counselling network.
