DONATIONS

The Centre costs about £160,000 a year to run, a figure, which inexorably increases in line with the RPI.  Income does not automatically rise at the same rate and invariably there is an approximate gap between income and expenditure of some £45,000 per annum.

The shortfall is made up by major donations from the League of Friends (Newport), from fund raising activities such as our Lottery, concerts, BBQs etc.  However one of the most important sources of income is the generosity of YOU, the public, without whose support we could not continue to provide a vital community service.

We need your financial help and there are many ways in which this can be given such as: -

  • An annual or monthly donation by Bankers Order.  For tax payers, couple this with a Gift Aid declaration, which means we can claim 28p for every £1 donated.  A monthly donation of, say, £5 would equate to an annual donation to us of £76.80
  • A straightforward one off donation, Gift Aided if possible
  • Donation of all or part of any overpayment of income tax using box 19A.1. of your tax return and quoting Code Number Y A M  4 0 Q G for Newport Shropshire Cottage Hospital Trust
  • A bequest made in your will
  • At a funeral, request that donations in lieu of flowers be given to Newport Cottage Care Centre
  • Donations instead of presents to mark your birthday, wedding anniversary
  • A donation as a result of your own fund raising efforts – a coffee morning, a sponsored walk, opening your garden, a BBQ – the list is endless

Every penny donated is used to run the Centre.  Apart from the minimum legal requirement of qualified staff, all the administrative work such as accounting, fund raising, event organisation etc is carried out by unpaid volunteers.

The Code number for the Newport Cottage Care Centre is YAM40QG
